Tottenham Hotspur coach Antonio Conte gives his thoughts on Everton ahead of first Premier League game in charge of Spurs
Speaking to Spurs TV via Tottenham Hotspur official, Antonio Conte has given his thoughts on preparing for the game against Everton tomorrow. He also gave his opinion on the opponents and what to expect from them in the fixture.
Spurs will take on the Toffees at Goodison Park on Sunday ahead of next week’s international break. The match will also be Conte’s first Premier League game as a manager at Tottenham, and, will face a formidable foe in Rafael Benitez on the touchline.
The Italian was open about the lack of time to train with his new side but remains adamant that they are doing their best. He also understood the players who might feel tired due to lack of rest but has challenged them to claw through it and step up.
“We played Thursday night, on Friday morning we watched a video with the positive and negative things that happened, and I know that the players can be a bit tired after the game but when you don’t have the time you have to try to exploit every second of the day.”
The former Chelsea coach also expects a strong showing from Rafa Benitez’s side as he believes they will pose a serious threat. He also praised the atmosphere while giving a nod to the quality of their coach. Conte does not appear to take Everton for granted despite their rather inconsistent run of form
“We are talking about a really good team, a strong team, and a really good manager who has won a lot in his career. The atmosphere at Goodison Park is an important atmosphere and, for sure, we have to bring a strong game and we need to prepare in the right way. “

The last match between Benitez and the new Spurs boss ended in a loss for the 52-year-old as Newcastle United beat Chelsea by a scoreline of 3-0. So Conte would know the danger the opponents possess and would not give mind to their recent run of form. He would want to get all three points from the game to build some momentum going into the international break.
