Everton boss Rafael Benitez issues a warning to Tottenham Hotspur while being cautious about Antonio Conte’s aggressiveness
According to The Independent, Rafael Benitez has issued a warning to Tottenham Hotspur about Everton and their strengths while being cautious about Antonio Conte and his aggressive approach. The Toffees will host Spurs at Goodison Park on Sunday in the Premier League.
Spurs are ninth in the league table with 15 points from ten matches, whereas the Toffees are right behind them in tenth with 14 points from the same number of games. Benitez got the better of Conte in their last meeting when Newcastle United beat Chelsea by 3-0.
The Spaniard has issued a warning to the visitors about his team’s ability to react even in games that they have lost. He added that the commitment level from his players will always be at its highest, and it would be the same on Sunday.
“We saw against a lot of teams that we are capable to react and even in the last game that we lost (at Wolves on Monday), in the second half the team saw the commitment you are expecting, the reaction you are expecting so we can do it against Tottenham on Sunday.”
However, the 61-year-old gaffer was not full of himself and was wary about his opponents and the style of play they would employ. He concluded that Tottenham would be aggressive, which suits the nature of the former Inter Milan boss.
“They used to be aggressive. Normally his teams have to go for the title so I think he’s this kind of manager. He wants to be competitive and win.”
