New Tottenham Hotspur coach, Ryan Mason reveals his respect for Antonio Conte
In conversation with the Tottenham Hotspur official website (h/t Daily Mail), Ryan Mason has shed light on his new role at Tottenham Hotspur and his relationship with current manager Antonio Conte.
The former Spurs player has become a known figure at Tottenham Hotspur. He even took charge of the first team for the finals two months of the 2020/11 season when Jose Mourinho was sacked unceremoniously.
The 30-year-old was the Head of Player Development with the North London club before being handed the reigns of the senior squad last season. Conte, who recently took over the Lilywhites has since integrated Mason into a first-team coaching position.
Mason spoke about his conversation with the former Chelsea manager and exclaimed that he was very excited to be part of the coaching staff:
‘I spoke to the boss on the Tuesday after the first training session, we spoke a bit about joining the team and becoming part of the coaching staff and it’s something I’m really excited about. He’s one of the best managers in the world – his record speaks for itself.”
The former Hull City player also tried to recall the moment when the 52-year-old manager visited him in hospital after a horrific skull injury against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
He believes the club and himself have been afforded a massive opportunity by Conte. A proven winner, the Italian can hopefully rub some of his luck onto the North Londoners.
“It’s a massive opportunity for me, and a massive opportunity for the football club to have the boss here coaching and helping the team.”
The North London club have endured a rocky start to the season as they sacked Nuno Espirito Santo recently. They replaced the 47-year-old Portuguese manager with the former Inter Milan manager to push them in a better direction and instil a more attacking style of football.
Conte has already made a mark and is supposedly running rigorous training sessions for his players and baning Mayonnaise and ketchup from the canteen at N-17. With all of the changes, he also met Ryan and promoted him to the position of a first-team coach.

The Italian has a great track record of bringing developing clubs and bringing them great success in his time at the helm. It wouldn’t be audacious to say that Ryan Mason is ecstatic with the new opportunity. That being said the fans would also be raring to see that exciting brand of football that is almost synonymous with Antonio Conte.
