Transfer News: Inter Milan star Stefan de Vrij is keen on a move to Tottenham Hotspur
According to Football Insider (h/t BBC Sport), Inter Milan defender Stefan de Vrij has told his close friends about his interest in Tottenham Hotspur. He has said to them that he wants to make a move to Spurs in the January transfer window.
The Dutchman had previously worked under Antonio Conte during his time at Inter Milan. The two worked together to help the Nerazzurri win their first Seria A title in several years. The centre-back had played a huge role to help Conte achieve glory.
The 29-year-old has played 89 matches under the guidance of Conte and has five goals and assists each. What is interesting is his composure in the backline as he has just 11 yellow cards under the Italian’s guidance.
He has previously been linked with a move to Tottenham to join forces with his former manager. With the 52-year-old manager already implementing his infamous back three system, a player like de Vrij would add a lot to the current backline.
Cristian Romero has previous experience of working in a three-man backline during his time at Atalanta. Should the Dutch international be signed, his addition would be helpful since he has already been accustomed to the system and the coach’s tactics.
However, last week, the Inter ace revealed that the links connecting him to his previous manager have no substance. He added that he does not know anything, and there has not been any contact.
