Dele Alli wants to fight for his spot at Tottenham Hotspur under Antonio Conte
According to Eurosport, Dele Alli is eager to fight for his place at Tottenham Hotspur under Antonio Conte. He has not given up on his future and is determined to earn his chance and get back into the team.
Uncertainties have continued to rise about Alli’s future and he is currently a shadow of his former self and the early promise he had shown. Having exploded under Mauricio Pochettino, many tipped him to reach the highest level but he has since failed to build on the excellent displays.
Spurs are expecting interest to be generated, which could mean they are looking at options to offload him in the January transfer window. But that has not staggered the midfielder’s stance as he wants to recapture his form under Conte, knowing it could be his last chance.
The Englishman recently featured against NS Mura in the UEFA Europa Conference League but had a disappointing performance as the team suffered an embarrassing loss. However, the Italian manager is not ready to pull the plug on him and believes in his ability to help the underperforming star.
The 25-year-old would have options elsewhere with Newcastle United linked with a transfer. The Magpies are currently fighting relegation but are boosted by their recent Saudi-backed takeover. With the transfer window drawing close, he would need to take his chances to his best if he hopes to have a future at the North London club.
Is there hope for Alli?
Pierre-Emile-Hojbjerg and Oliver Skipp have established themselves as a crucial part of the boss’ system, which leaves space only for the creative outlet. Harry Winks has also made a mark, and he would probably play backup to Hojbjerg and Skipp.
Tanguy Ndomebele has shown flashes of brilliance but has not been consistent with his performances. He has failed to meet the expectations following his move from Olympique Lyon and has never really pinned down a starting spot at the club. Giovani Lo Celso was underperforming but impressed in his short stint under the 52-year-old boss. The Argentine has since picked up an injury.

The England midfielder has a chance to get his spot with Ndombele underperforming and Lo Celso being on the sidelines. However, looking at Spurs’ issues this season, creativity continues to be a big problem.
Alli played really high up the pitch under Pochettini during his heyday and when he was initially making his mark on the Premier League. Playing as an auxiliary striker behind Harry Kane, it wouldn’t be an audacious idea to replicate that again, if Conte is ever on board with that idea. After all, he did majorly play a 3-5-2 at Inter Milan with two centre-forwards.
