Vitesse in contact with UEFA to get the outcome of the cancelled Tottenham Hotspur vs Rennais game
According to Vitesse’s official website (h/t Football.London), Vitesse Arnhem still do not know their position in Group G of the UEFA Conference League as the European governing body hasn’t decided on the outcome of the cancelled Tottenham Hotspur vs Rennais game.
Earlier today, UEFA issued a statement stating that despite their best efforts, they couldn’t find a ‘viable solution’ to reschedule the Tottenham vs Rennais game in favour of both parties. Thus the European Union decided to cancel the match and suggested that they would decide on the consequence through Annex J.
The decision from UEFA has put Vitesse and Tottenham in uncertainty over their following approach. The Dutch team currently stands in the 2nd position of Group G of the UEFA Conference League after beating NS Mura by a 3-1 scoreline. However, a win from Spurs in the final group game would see the North London team acquire the second spot.
The Eredivisie team suggested that their hope for further advancement ultimately lies with the decision made by UEFA. Even though The Dutch team are in constant contact with the European Union to get the development, it’d take some time for them to figure out their destiny.
“Vitesse is in contact with UEFA, but it could take a few more days before the European Football Association’s disciplinary committee makes a decision.”
The Dutch team also revealed that there is a possibility that rather than eliminating Spurs, the Union could decide to put both teams in one ball in the knockout draw.
“There is, therefore, a good chance that two clubs (‘Vitesse/Tottenham Hotspur’) will be in one ball next Monday at 2 pm (CET) in the draw for the next round.”
If what Vitesse has hinted becomes true, then Tottenham could get another chance to regain their European title hunt. While the Conference League is not anywhere close to the top tier of European football, it can serve as a building block for future glory.

Antonio Conte’s team had an up-down season on the European front. Even after the inclusion of the Italian manager, they suffered a defeat in the hands of NS Mura.
Thus if the North London team gets a second life in the tournament, the player and staff should thoroughly make arrangements to ensure better performances.
