Jurgen Klopp gives the latest Liverpool injury update ahead of Tottenham Hotspur clash
Jurgen Klopp has provided the latest Liverpool injury news ahead of the clash against Tottenham Hotspur. The sides will face off on 19 December in the standout tie of the weekend.
Tottenham’s clash against Leicester City scheduled for later today has been postponed while the Reds are set to be involved against Newcastle United. Spurs are seventh in the league, whereas the Merseyside club are in the second spot, having played two more matches.
Speaking in the pre-match press conference (h/t Football.London), Klopp provided information on Roberto Firmino and Curtis Jones ahead of their clash with Newcastle. Both have recovered and are in contention to feature later today in the league. He also confirmed that they have no Covid cases within their camp, which is a contrast to the North London club.
“I really do not like to talk about it because always when I say something like: ‘it looks really good’, then I get a call, but it looks okay in the moment. No new injuries. Bobby (Firmino) is back in full training, Curtis yesterday in big parts of training. That leaves Harvey (Elliott) out obviously long-term and Divock (Origi) has a little issue, and Adrian obviously. So the rest should be fine.”
Missed opportunity
We would have been eager to face off against one of the heavyweights in the league if the team was at full strength. However, we are crippled at the moment and could be going up against Klopp’s mighty Reds.
Playing off against Liverpool is difficult on the best of days let alone when a part of our squad has been crippled by Covid-19. While it remains to be seen if the match will even go ahead, our task is easier said than done.
We are not getting ahead of ourselves and the gap between us and the Merseysiders is nothing short of a chasm. Whether the match will go ahead remains to be seen.

However, football is always unpredictable, and things could change as lots of factors play into effect during a match. The clash against Liverpool would be a real test of the limited impact Antonio Conte has had in his short time at the lane.
