Jurgen Klopp hits out at Tottenham Hotspur for hiding covid information
According to the Mirror, Jurgen Klopp suggested that he would be transparent about the Covid-19 surge in Liverpool side; however, he believes that Tottenham Hotspur have been secretive regarding the same.
A severe Covid-19 crisis has ravaged Spurs in recent times. In a span of a few days, several players and coaching staff directly involved with first-team proceedings have been infected by the virus. But, the club and the manager has been secretive about revealing the names of the infected individuals.
On the other hand, Liverpool has been relatively transparent with their Covid surge in the first team. On Friday, Klopp suggested that he is waiting for the second batch results on Virgil van Dijk, Fabinho and Curtis Jones, who tested positive in the lateral flow test.
The German manager made Liverpool’s stance very clear regarding the sharing of Covid related information to the press and public.
“We don’t have anything to hide. We know at this moment three players are probably not available.”
But, the former Dortmund manager revealed his honest opinion about the stance of other big Premier League teams in tackling the Covid situation and also suggested that more detailed information could have helped tackle the ‘misleading and wrong information.’
“Manchester United had a number of players, but I have no idea of the players, I don’t know who at Tottenham – we have no information, I have no idea if they have trained today. Just say how it is and then carry on from there. Is there a solution? I don’t see one at the moment, but transparency helps.”
The first report about Tottenham covid crisis suggested that Seven players and two staff members were returned positive for the Covid test. The following day, another player and three members of the coaching staff got infected by the deadly virus. Eventuallyfew U-23 players also contacted the virus.
Even though new manager Antonio Conte appeared in press conferences a couple of times after the Covid surge, he hasn’t provided the names of those infected players and staff names. Whereas the club also hasn’t clarified the ongoing situation. The club did release statements on the postponed matches and mentioned the Coronavirus surge, but it wasn’t specific.
