Napoli are interested in signing Tottenham Hotspur defender Davinson Sanchez
According to Italian outlet Calcio In Pillole (h/t Football.London), Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez has been linked with a move to Italian giants, Napoli.
The Colombian was a club-record signing when he signed for Tottenham. However, the former Ajax Amsterdam player hasn’t found his form at the North London club. He only started 17 Premier League games in the previous season and spent most of the time on the bench. Nevertheless, this season his situation hasn’t improved.
Under axed manager Nuno Espírito Santo, he didn’t get many opportunities. On the other hand, New manager Antonio Conte has favoured Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Ben Davies as his first choice back three. The 25-year-old defender’s inconsistency and lack of game time could push him towards an exit.
Napoli has been targeting a defender to fill up the place of Kostas Manolas. It is believed that Gli Azzurri has shortlisted Sanchez to bolster their defending options.
Antonio Conte prefers a three-person backline, and his choices at the moment seem short. Japhet Tanganga, on the other hand, still needs some grooming to become a top defender. Even though the arrival of Romero has helped during the season, he recently got injured and was sidelined for several matches.
Eric Dier has been regularly appearing in the centre of the defence for Tottenham. However, his recent form has attracted massive security. The British defender has proved to be reliable in some matches and leaked easy goals.
