Tottenham Hotspur will need to pay through their nose to land Dusan Vlahovic
According to the Daily Star, Tottenham target Dusan Vlahovic has made a whopping wage demand which interested teams will have to meet to secure his signature in the January transfer window.
Ther Serbian has developed into one of the best strikers in the world since the beginning of the 2020/21 campaign. His consistent goalscoring abilities have caught the attention of top teams. With 16 goals in 19 Serie A appearances this season, he leads the race for the Serie A golden boot.
According to Daily Express, the Serbian forward has rejected a lucrative offer from Fiorentina for a contract renewal. The 21-year-old forward’s current transfer stance has wreaked havoc in the transfer market, with some of the biggest names in world football interested in signing him.
However, the Serbian international has demanded a whopping £200,000-a-week – after tax to complete a move in the winter transfer window. On top of that, Fiorentina has been firm on their asking price of £70million for the striker. Amid such a situation, the complete financial obligations included in the deal makes it extensively tricky for any team to sign him.
Tottenham face competition from Manchester City, Arsenal and Chelsea for Vlahovic’s signature. But Pep Guardiola has already ruled out the possibility of signing a striker in the January window. In comparison, it is believed that the three London teams aren’t convinced enough to splash such a high amount on the transfer.
Tottenham strikers expect for Son Heung-min have enjoyed a rather underwhelming 2021-22 campaign. Harry Kane’s poor form had threatened to derail Spurs season only for Conte to come in and steady the tide.
The Italian has spent the last few years in Serie A and will be well aware of Vlahovic’s abilities. Whether the Serbian too will join the Azzurri tactician’s revolution at N-17 remains to be seen.

As the season proceeds, Conte’s impact will be clearer for all to see and judge. But the January window might be too soon to splash such a staggering amount for a striker.
Vlahovic, no doubt has been quite impressive, but nobody can deny the success the Kane-Son partnership has had in the past. Therefore, Spurs will do well to wait until the summer to splash the cash.
