Tottenham Hotspur to battle Arsenal and Brentford for Brennan Johnson
According to the Sun, Arsenal and Brentford have joined the race to sign Tottenham Hotspur target Brennan Johnson from Nottingham Forest.
The youngster rose to fame after a series of awe-inspiring performances for Nottingham Forest. The Championship starlet is wreaking havoc from the wing positions and has been a constant menace for the opposition defences.
Johnson has already bagged five goals in 23 Championship appearances. Still only 20-years of age, the Wales international has a glittering career ahead and would look to move onto the next level of his career.
Tottenham were believed to be interested in signing Brennan but faced competition from local rivals Arsenal. Now, Brentford have joined the race and intend to make a £14m bid for the Nottingham sensation in the January transfer window.
However, Steve Cooper’s team is reluctant to sell their academy graduate in the coming transfer window. Nottingham intends to keep hold of the starlet even at the cost of his contract running down. On the other hand, the player is believed to be eyeing a better offer at this moment.
Tottenham have difficulties in the midfield. Dele Alli has failed to rejuvenate his form and couldn’t capitalize on the chances provided by Antonio Conte. The injury to Giovani Lo Celso has put the Italian manager in a difficult position. Even though the partnership of Oliver Skipp and Pierre-Emile Höjbjerg has been decent, there is a void of creative presence in the midfield.
