Some fans react as Tottenham Hotspur beat Watford 1-0 in stoppage time

Tottenham Hotspur left it very late as they beat Watford 1-0 through a header from Davinson Sanchez at the death. The North Londoners had to dig deep to get the breakthrough as the win saw them jump up to fifth in the Premier League table.

The Hornets had their fair bit of opportunities in the first half, but Spurs were the better side after the halftime break. Both sides were left fuming when referee Rob Jones waved off penalty appeals on Harry Kane and Joshua King, respectively.

Antonio Conte’s side kept putting pressure towards the end, and a goal seemed to have been on the way. Son Heung-Min had a great chance to give them the lead past the hour mark as Lucas Moura found him through a defence-splitting pass, but the effort got saved by Daniel Bachmann. The Watford keeper was tremendous on the night as the visitors were left frustrated by his display.

Grinding it out!

The action had to be stopped because of a medical emergency that took place in the stands, and the match was suspended for a while. Once that was taken care of, Conte’s team kept pushing for the winner and eventually got one in the end. Son was fouled on the edge of the box, and the resulting free-kick taken by him was nodded past Bachmann by Sanchez.

Claudio Ranieri’s side were left dead after the late winner, but they held their own and fought till the end. One could feel hard done by for them as the slight lapse at the death saw them lose all three points as they are dangerously close to the relegation zone.

The North London club are fifth in the league with 33 points from 18 matches and are behind Arsenal by two points. The Gunners have played two games extra, which put Spurs in a comfortable position moving forward.

We are set to face Chelsea next in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-finals. We would need to be a lot better for us to get the better of the Blues, as the performance today was frustrating to watch. Let’s hope that the team would be better and raise their level as we did against Liverpool.

Here are how some fans reacted to Tottenham’s last gasp win as Davinson Sanchez scored the winner.
