Antonio Conte lauded ‘involved’ Harry Kane for staying at Tottenham Hotspur
According to Sky Sports, Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte praised Harry Kane’s commitment to the team and suggested that the England captain would be the central point for his project.
Last summer, Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane was involved in an unfamous transfer saga with Manchester City. The 28-year-old showed a desire to end the partnership with Spurs and join Pep Guardiola. Nothing materialized, however, and he ended up staying at N17.
Antonio Conte suggested that he is well aware of the transfer saga and lauded Kane for staying. The Italian manager also added that the Three Lions captain would have a massive role in his project.
“I knew the situation in the summer and, when Harry decided to stay in Tottenham, I found a player totally involved in this project … if we want to think to build something to win, Harry must be a starting point.”
The Italian manager also revealed that the trophy cabinet must be a concern for Harry Kane. The England international is yet to win a major trophy with Spurs in his entire playing career.
“I understand Harry’s situation. When you finish your career, you can see your appearances and the teams you made them for, but, at the same time, it’s right to see what you have won. This is important, especially for the top, top players.”
Kane had a slow start to the season. The 28-year-old forward struggled for consistency under Nuno Espírito Santo, which affected the overall performance of his team. However, the arrival of Antonio Conte has completely changed the scenario. Kane has found himself on the scoresheet a couple of times in the last few matches and has 11 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions.
Kane has been one of the pillars for Tottenham’s success in recent seasons. The 28-year-old has also developed himself into one of the most lethal strikers in the world with Spurs. However, the only thing that’s missing is the silverware. The North London team hasn’t won a major trophy since the League Cup triumph in 2008.

Conte is already impacting Kane, and their partnership would be vital for Tottenham. Any manager would want to have such a player in their team, and Kane’s stay is only a sign of his commitment to the team and the fans.
