Transfer News: Arsenal register their first bid for Tottenham Hotspur target Dusan Vlahovic
According to Italian outlet Gazzetta dello Sport (h/t Independent), Arsenal have tabled their first offer to Fiorentina to lure Tottenham Hotspur target Dusan Vlahovic to the Emirates.
Dusan Vlahovic has been the talk of the town at Serie A. the Serbian star is already the top scorer in the Italian league this season and has bagged 18 goals and three assists in 22 appearances across all competitions. The 21-year-old is on course to give a hard time to Lewandowski for the European Golden shoe.
Vlahovic’s impressive performances are turning heads the heads of Europe’s biggest names. Arsenal, Tottenham and Atletico Madrid are all believed to be interested in signing the 21-year-old striker. But it seems Gunners have made the first move.
Mikel Arteta’s side have been facing difficulty with their star forward, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, lately and are keen to replace the Gabon international with Valovic. It is believed that Gunners have made an offer of €70m (£58.5) to convince the Italian side to part with their star man.
Antonio Conte utilises a three-person frontline including Lucas Moura, Heung-min Son and Dele Alli. However, there isn’t much cover for these three if anyone gets injured.
Steven Bergwijn was believed to have a good spell; however, frequent injury complications prevented the Dutch forward from providing consistent performance.
The Italian manager has often introduced Bryan Gil into the game in the dying minute of the last few matches. However, the Spaniard still requires some grooming to become a reliable option capable of making a difference.
On top of that, Lucas Moura is ageing and won’t be able to give consistent performance for a long term period.

Therefore, the arrival of Valovic would be the ideal solution for Antonio Conte’s front line issues. The Serbian could team up with Kane in the front. Son would require to play a deep role in that case, but previous performances show that the South Korean can manage such a role.
Tottenham would face high competition in their pursuit of Valovic. Arsenal’s aggressiveness suggests that Mikel Arteta has made the Serbian a priority target. Spurs board have to be quick-witted to beat their city rivals. Even though the striker wouldn’t come cheap, his age coupled with his quality suggests that the move would be worth the fee.
