Ben Davies backs Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho amid dreadful run
According to the Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies has claimed that the entire squad has full belief in manager Jose Mourinho amid the club’s recent run of form.
Since mid-December, Tottenham have won just three of their last 13 games that has seen them go from league leaders to ninth place. Following the defeat to West Ham this weekend, Spurs are left nine points below the fourth spot, leading to doubts over Mourinho’s job.
Davies, however, has insisted that the manager has his and the squad’s backing amid this difficult period.
“He will set us up the way that he wants to, we have full respect and belief in the way that he’s working, and as players it’s up to us to stand up, really, we’ve got to put our best foot forwards, as best as we can.”
“He’s desperate to win. That rubs off on players, definitely. Like I said, he’s got an amazing pedigree, he’s won everything that there possibly is to be won, and as players you can only thrive off that.”
Davies added that this was not where the club wants to see itself in, especially after the strong start and then went on to call on his teammates to turn things around.
“We need to stand up as players, be reflective on why it’s going wrong and really stand up to the pressure. We know it’s not where we wanted to be and the results aren’t what are wanted but now it’s time to try to turn that around.”
