Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur await result of contract meeting between Inter Milan and Marcelo Brozovic
According to Rudy Galetti of Sport Italia (h/t ESPN), Tottenham Hotspur are awaiting the result of a meeting between Inter Milan and Marcelo Brozovic regarding the player’s situation at the club. He is set to undergo discussions with his current club over the subject of renewing his current deal.
Brozovic was supposedly close to signing a new deal recently, but that has not stopped clubs from trying to get his services. He will see his contract with Inter expire at the end of the 2021-22 season and is legally able to reach a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside Italy this month.
Juventus, Atletico Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are monitoring the situation and are in anticipation of knowing the outcome of the meeting. Atletico, PSG and Tottenham could make their case and force the 29-year-old not to take a quick decision on his future.
Too late to snatch him?
There is no specific information about the exact time of the meeting, which would have benefited us if it was available. That would have given us a deadline to make our case to the Croatian superstar so as not to take a final decision on the matter.
But since that is not the case, we are in a race against time in trying to convince the Serie A star not to pen a deal soon after the meeting. While he is going to enter the twilight of his career, the prospect of signing him cannot be simply passed on because he is still a top-quality midfielder.
While we have depth in our midfield in terms of numbers, the quality is questionable. Not just that, there would be times when even our dependable players would see a dip in form, so having more quality in the squad would help to deal with such instances.
We have to keep in the back of our mind that there is competition from the European heavyweights for the Inter star’s services. But all the interest would end in vain if he decided to pledge his future with the Nerazzurri.

Simeone Inzaghi had mentioned that he expects the midfielder to sign a new deal soon. He added that the player is happy with his life and is an important asset for the Italian side. That would dent our chances of signing him but it remains to be seen whether the Nerazzurri boss is right about the situation or not.
Moreover, Brozovic may well become a key player under Conte. The Italian managed him at Inter last season and if Spurs want him, it is clear that the former Chelsea and Juventus manager saw something special in him.
