Transfer News: Several clubs keen on taking Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Joe Rodon on loan
According to Daily Mail Online, Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Joe Rodon has attracted interest from several clubs in the ongoing January transfer window. He has struggled to earn a spot under Antonio Conte and could leave the club this month if all parties agree to it.
Rodon is yet to play a single match in the Premier League since Antonio Conte took the reigns midway through the season. He was recently involved in the 3-1 victory against Morecambe in the FA Cup third round. Although he played the full ninety minutes, his performance on the night did not get any pulses racing.
An exit on the cards?
The 24-year-old’s situation is weird really since he has hardly disappointed when given an opportunity. His performances for the Welsh national side during the same time period is an excellent show of his potential if used right.
Having paid £11million to Swansea City for the centre-back, many expected him to gain prominence as time went by. But with just two appearances under the Italian manager so far, it would be in the best interest of everyone if a parting is on the cards.
Keeping him on the sidelines and refusing to play him does little good to either party. With clubs keeping a keen eye on him, a loan spell could be the ideal option for the player this month. Having him play regularly elsewhere could hand Spurs the opportunity to judge the defender they have on their hands.
That would also help us to cut some costs while earning a loan fee in the process. However, there has been no mention of who the interested parties are, and how serious their interest is?

There is always another side of the argument, which is the same in this case as well. Some may point out that trimming the backline is not good, considering the current Covid situation. Injuries and suspensions are always a part of the game, plus the three centre-back system that Conte often uses call for a healthy number of options available.
Japhet Tanganga is another defender who is being targeted for a loan move. However, there is no information available on whether Tottenham are looking to trim their backline in the winter transfer window.
