Antonio Conte gives latest Tottenham Hotspur injury news ahead of PL clash vs Leicester City
Antonio Conte has issued the latest injury news on Tottenham Hotspur ahead of their match against Leicester City in the Premier League later today. His team will be looking to put behind their disappointment of being knocked out by Chelsea in the Carabao Cup semi-finals and get back to winning ways.
Tottenham have some injury concerns coming into this game after players like Son Heung-Min, Eric Dier, Cristian Romero and Steven Bergwijn missed out on the matchday squad against the Blues. The latter was available for the North London Derby, but the fixture was postponed following a request from Arsenal.
Speaking to Spurs TV after the training session on Tuesday (h/t Tottenham Hotspur official website), Conte has revealed that there are no changes to the team compared to the matchday squad against the Gunners. He added that Romero would be in contention after the international break while calling for patience regarding Dier.
“To compare to the last game against Arsenal, nothing has changed, we have the same players available. Cristian is improving, and he’s working with us. For sure, we have to try to respect the right time for his recovery. For Eric, we have to wait a bit, and also have a bit of patience, and not take a risk.”
Bergwijn boost for Spurs
While the Italian boss did not specifically give out an update on Son, he will be unavailable for the fixture. The South Korean is undroppable when fit and his absence will be a blow for Tottenham.
Meanwhile, Bergwijn’s return would certainly be a major boost looking at how thin our attacking options have become. Harry Kane, Lucas Moura and Bryan Gil form the rest of the frontline, which points to the lack of options in that department.

The news surrounding Romeo comes as a welcome relief since we have missed his quality at the back in recent weeks. However, Dier’s absence will hamper us by depriving us of the technical and sweeping skills that he brings to the team.
We must win the game against Leicester at all costs to regain the momentum we have lost this month. The team has been underperforming for a while, so we have to get out of this rut to have a successful second half of the season. Three points today would greatly increase our chances of qualifying for the Champions League next season.
