Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur keeping tabs on FC Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko
According to Gianluigi Longari of Sport Italia (h/t ESPN), FC Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko is on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur as they try to facilitate a potential transfer in the future. He is one of the latest prospects to come through the highly-rated talent factory in Austria following the likes of Erling Haaland and Karim Adeyemi.
Sesko is valued at around €15million, which could prove to be a steal if he continues to grow at the same trajectory. No information has been made available on whether Tottenham are looking to meet that asking price or not but it does seem like a fee that isn’t overly exorbitant for a talented young striker.
Haaland and Adeyemi have gone on to become fine strikers and if the Slovenian achieves the same progress, teams would undoubtedly gather around for his services. Whether Spurs would prise him away or not can only be known in due time.
Take the gamble, Spurs
The 18-year-old has featured in 24 games across all competitions and has scored seven goals and six assists this season. The teenager’s performances have helped Salzburg to the top of the Austrian Bundesliga at this point in the season. They are 14 points ahead of second-placed Sturm Graz after 18 league games and are on course to win the title.
The Slovenian centre-forward is a commanding presence in the box, standing at 6’4″, and is mobile enough to help during counter-attacks. The attacker has become a regular in his team at such a young age, which is a nod to the quality that he possesses.
We would be smart to take the gamble on the Salzburg starlet before others enter the fray. That, in turn, may drive up the price by the simple logic of demand and supply. That is without considering how his displays would also play a part moving forward and if he continues to impress, the only way for him is up.
While Harry Kane still has many years left in him, it would be wise on our part to plan for life after him in advance. After all, a man of his quality cannot easily be replaced and would need adequate planning and time to find a suitable target if and when he ultimately leaves the club.

It remains to be seen what Fabio Paratici will decide regarding the subject in the months to come but it is always smart to bring in a young striker to future-proof the team. Dane Scarlett and Troy Parrott are two of our finest academy strikers but Sesko is already succeeding in top-flight football.
It is always wise to add competition to the team and potentially signing the Slovenian starlet could well be a decision that pays dividends in due time.
