Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur consider January move for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie
According to The Telegraph (Subscription Required), Tottenham Hotspur are contemplating a move for AC Milan midfielder Franck Kessie in the January transfer window. The North Londoners are keen to beat the summer rush and also add to their squad ahead of a battle for the top four.
Kessie is in the final six months of his current deal with Milan and could reach a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside Italy this month. Since other English clubs and Paris Saint-Germain have also shown an interest in the midfielder, Tottenham are looking to beat them to the finish line by moving fast.
Antonio Conte has demanded a midfielder in the winter transfer window and it remains to be seen if the club can meet his demand in the coming days. Naturally, his team would need to pay a sum to facilitate a transfer, but with the Serie A club competing for the league title, Spurs could find it difficult to get their man.
Do something Spurs!
It is always frustrating to see your club not making any movement in the transfer window, especially when there is an acute need for reinforcements. The Spurs midfield falls under this category, and signing the 25-year-old would give us a major boost in our hopes of qualifying for the Champions League next season.
I Rossoneri may not entertain an offer because of their title challenge, but at the same time, they may do it considering how this will be their last opportunity to gain a transfer fee for the player. With just days to go before the winter transfer window shuts, it remains to be seen what will be done.
Interestingly, the Serie A club have enquired about the possibility of signing Japhet Tanganga as Simon Kjaer is currently out injured. Whether that interest would align with our own in the Ivory Coast international remains to be seen.

With Tanguy Ndombele having fallen from grace and Dele Alli struggling for form, the Spurs midfield could do with an infusion of new blood. With just Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Oliver Skipp and Harry Winks as the reliable options, Conte’s options in the middle of the park are limited.
Spurs are yet to make a major move in the market this month and it remains to be seen if the pieces will start moving now that the window is nearing its end. As things stand, Conte could find it difficult to finish in the top four given the lack of strength in depth within his squad.
