Some fans react as Chelsea defeat Tottenham Hotspur for the third time in January
It was the same old at Stamford Bridge as Tottenham Hotspur succumbed to a poor 2-0 defeat to Chelsea.
Spurs have now lost three times in January to their London rivals. Antonio Conte‘s side were far from their best and had no answer to Thomas Tuchel’s tactics, coming out second best on the night.
In a game of few chances, Harry Kane looked to have given the visitors the lead in the first half. However, Thiago Silva made the most of a tussle in the leadup to the goal and VAR ruled out what looked to be a perfectly good strike by the English skipper.
Spurs’ lack of cutting edge came back to bite them as Hakim Ziyech curled in an excellent strike to give the home side the lead. Thiago Silva then gave his side breathing space with a second goal, effectively putting the game to bed.
It was a disappointing return to Stamford Bridge for Conte, who has now lost twice at his former home in the same month. This also happened to be his first league in the Premier League since taking over as Tottenham manager.
The loss leaves Tottenham in the seventh spot, two points off the fourth spot with two games in hand. If the performance on the night is anything to go by, we will need to vastly improve to stand a chance of qualifying for the UEFA Champions League.
For now, we take a look at how Tottenham fans reacted to the loss on Twitter.
Some Tottenham fans react as Spurs fall short against Chelsea yet again
Poor, and they were on a bad run in the league.

Yes we were missing Sonny, Reggy and others but it’s Jan and should have had new signings in and ready to play – plus shipping out Tanguy, Dele and Lo Celso if they aren’t giving what Conte needs!
NEW SIGNINGS. Only way we can compete with the top teams in this league.

Unlucky not to go in 1-0 up at HT, but didn’t play well enough overall.
Lewis and Levy : INVEST ffs!!!!! Too many bang average players who can’t even pass the ball. What a poor passing 🤮What a lack of creativity. 4 defeats vs Chelsea this season 🤮

Only ones who’ve bothered to show up at Stamford Bridge in 30 years are the fans

Bergwin only positive. Lost all meetings this season vs them. We just ain’t on the same level regardless of the Kane goal. We didn’t serve anything. We got battered. Japh playing 90 after a yellow expecting him to play well after also being involved in all goals weve conceded

Silva pushes himself free to score = goal. Kane pushes himself free to score = no goal. Same old premier league and shocking decisions that once again go against us.

Honestly think the board would rather watch him walk away than show ambition (and any sort of coherent plan) in the transfer market. I think Conte will probably go in the summer.

Back Conte or nothing will change. Chelsea is without James, Chilwell, Mendy and so on and still have the likes of Havertz, Werner, Kante, Saul and the others on the bench. Do something, please.

When the defence is made up of Tanganga, Dier, Sanchez and Davies, we never had a chance to start with. That’s a back four you’d expect to see at Everton.
