Tottenham Hotspur ace Giovani Lo Celso breaks his silence after Antonio Conte drops him for Chelsea clash
Taking to his Instagram account on Sunday, Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Giovani Lo Celso has stated that he is “100% in good physical condition” after manager Antonio Conte omitted him from the Spurs squad to face Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
Lo Celso has seen game time hard to come by this season due to a lengthy injury layoff but was recently seen coming on as a substitute in Tottenham’s thrilling 3-2 win against Leicester City in midweek.
Shortly after team news was released for the Chelsea clash, the Argentine addressed his exclusion from the team and revealed that he feels fully fit while also wishing the team good luck in the London derby. Spurs went on to lose the game 2-0 against a strong Chelsea side.
“Regarding the questions I received I would like to clear out that I am 100% in good physical condition. I have no problem and I feel very well. I wish the best to my team in the derby today.”
Despite recently coming on as a second-half substitute at the King Power Stadium to help his side to a 3-2 win against Leicester City, Lo Celso found himself omitted from the 20-man squad for the Chelsea game. The Argentine’s exclusion saw academy player Harvey White take a place on the bench at Stamford Bridge last night.
Conte’s decision ahead of one of the biggest games of the season raises questions regarding Lo Celso’s immediate future at the club. The 25-year-old has never really thrived at Tottenham, struggling to nail down a regular spot and being blighted with injury issues.
The midfielder only recently returned to the team after sustaining yet another injury while on international duty with Argentina. Although the player could have been left out due to fitness concerns, the Argentine has declared himself fit, while Conte did not mention any new injury the player picked up after the Leicester game.
Lo Celso has barely featured for us this term, only making seven appearances under Conte. Injury has certainly played a part in the Argentine failing to establish himself in the team this season, but last night’s omission from the Chelsea clash will not have come as a good omen. Given the performance we put up at the Bridge, we could certainly have used the midfielder’s ingenuity.
Conte named an academy player on the bench instead of the experienced Lo Celso. The player clearly does not seem to have taken this snub on the chin, taking to Instagram to announce his version of the story.

Conte also did not take the effort to address any news regarding the Argentina international before or after the game. The Italian has never taken a swipe at the player in public before, nor indicated that the player is not in his plans at the club.
Hopefully, this situation is nipped in the bud before it turns ugly. Although it may be worrying to see Lo Celso drop out of the squad along with Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele, both of whom have been linked with moves away from the club this month, there has been nothing else to suggest that the player is on his way out from N17 in the next few weeks.
