Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur yet to take a final decision on Bryan Gil amidst Valencia interest

According to transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur are yet to take a final decision on Bryan Gil amidst interest from Valencia. He is yet to show the promise he had shown in Spain following his move from Sevilla the previous summer.

Los Murcielagos have registered their interest in signing Gil in the January transfer window. He is still on their shortlist of potential targets despite the market nearing its end. With not many days left till the end of this month, there is not much time left for all the parties to reach common ground over a move.

Earlier this week, it was stated that Jose Bordalas’ side is looking to take the Spaniard on a loan transfer until the end of this season. OGC Nice and Real Sociedad are also keeping tabs on the situation to take advantage when the time is right.

Good idea?

The 20-year-old still has not fully expressed himself as he did back in Spain before joining us. The forward is adapting to the Premier League, so he needs time at such an age to get into the right groove of things. Some time away on loan could help him in that regard, as consistent minutes are essential for gaining match sharpness.

Going back to La Liga may well be ideal in any other scenario since the Tottenham ace was used to playing in a similar environment. It would ensure that the starlet has the best surroundings around him to fulfil the potential he had shown at a young age.

However, we need the Spanish international, considering how there is a lack of depth in our frontline. And in that regard, losing him would further put us in a tight spot. After all, having enough options is necessary when you look at the long season that is still ahead of us.

Son Heung-min is currently out injured, although he is expected to return following the international break. Even after his return, we need the services of the Spurs youngster since Steven Bergwijn would probably be playing a backup role to Lucas Moura on the right side, or to Harry Kane in the centre-forward position, as he did when we beat Leicester City 3-2 earlier this month.

It will be interesting to see what stance the North London club takes before deadline day passes. But it would be wise to keep hold of the Spanish winger for the reasons mentioned above. Let’s hope that a reasonable decision will be made regarding this topic for our own benefit.

He may well benefit from gaining extra minutes elsewhere, but then again, it is always better to be safe rather than sorry. If December is anything to go by, things can change in an instant for a club and that is where squad depth becomes king.
