Tottenham Hotspur target Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat to replace Tanguy Ndombele
According to Sky Sport Italy via Matteo Moretti (h/t Fabrizio Romano on Twitter), Tottenham Hotspur have identified Fiorentina midfielder Sofyan Amrabat as a transfer target to replace Tanguy Ndombele. He is on the list of potential targets as they look at life after the out of favour star.
Amrabat has only been shortlisted as a target, so there have not been any developments regarding a possible transfer yet. Spurs are yet to take a definitive stance on the matter and it remains to be seen if a concentrated effort will be made to land him in the next few days.
Ndombele has fallen down the pecking order at N-17 and is currently linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain this January. Should he join PSG on loan this month, Spurs could move for a player on their shortlist.
Why Amrabat?
The Moroccan primarily plays as a defensive midfielder but has the versatility to play as a central midfielder when the situation asks for it. Despite a promising first season with La Viola, he has been limited to just 12 appearances across all competitions this time around.
Fiorentina have not missed him much and are currently in the seventh spot in Serie A. Boosted by Dusan Vlahovic’s goals, La Viola have an outside shot of challenging for a top-four finish.
The Serie A ace has enjoyed better fortune with Morocco helping them qualify for the knockout rounds of the African Cup of Nations. They will face off against Malawi tomorrow in the round-of-16 tie as they attempt to achieve continental glory.
The African star is known for his excellent passing ability while possessing the skills to wriggle out of tight spots. He’s not too shabby either in his defensive gameplay and uses his impressive reading of the game to make a difference.

It is high time that we look to move on from Ndombele, especially after the fiasco during the 3-1 win against Morecambe in the FA Cup. He was omitted from the Spurs matchday squads the last few weeks and it remains to be seen if he has played his last game for the club.
Whether a move to Paris will occur or not and who Spurs will bring in as a replacement remains to be seen. With just days left in the January transfer window, it could prove to be an eventful few days at the Lane.
