Transfer News: PSG are in ‘pole position’ to sign Tottenham Hotspur star Tanguy Ndombele
According to Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol via the Football Daily (h/t Daily Express), Tottenham Hotspur star Tanguy Ndombele is more interested in reuniting with former manager Mauricio Pochettino at PSG than going on loan at Everton.
Tanguy Ndombele is yet to justify the club record £54million transfer fee that Tottenham Hotspur paid to Lyon back in 2019. Since last season, the midfielder has failed to hold his starting spot in the team courtesy of inconsistent performances.
He started this campaign being on the bench for Nuno Espírito Santo and even after the arrival of Antonio Conte, the situation hasn’t changed. It is clear that he isn’t finding favour under the ex-Inter Milan boss, and that his career at N17 may well be over.
On top of that, his relationship with our fans got bitter when he stormed down the tunnel after being substituted in the FA Cup tie against Morecambe. Following the incident, the French star was dropped from the team against Leicester City and Chelsea.
The Ev, or PSG?
Amid the lack of minutes under the Italian manager, it is improbable that Ndombele would get further chances in this campaign. Amidst such a situation, Paris Saint-Germain were believed to be in talks with the Spurs board for a transfer involving the French star. Now, it seems like Everton have also shown interest in loaning the 25-year-old.
Both options may well work out for Ndombele if he wants to rejuvenate his career. Everton offer him the chance to play in the Premier League and get accustomed to playing against teams that he would face as a Spurs player upon his return from loan.
And at PSG, he gets to reunite with his former boss, Mauricio Pochettino, who saw potential in him at Lyon and brought him to N17. But Sky Sports reporter Kaveh Solhekol has revealed that a return to France seems more convincing for the French midfielder rather than staying in the Premier League.
“I was told this afternoon that Everton are also one of the clubs that are interested in taking him on loan. But I think, as far as the player is concerned, it’s much more likely that he would want to return to France. So PSG I think are in pole position if he is to leave Spurs.”
Tottenham are already lacking creativity in the central midfield area, but it is clear that Ndombele isn’t a solution for that. While he has shown moments of brilliance at times, his overall performances whenever he has taken the field for us remain subpar.

Offloading Tanguy Ndombele, even temporarily, could give us more time to find a solution for his long-term future while also getting him off our books in some capacity. If he prefers a move to the Ligue 1 leaders, then so be it.
