Transfer News: Brighton battle Levante for Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Joe Rodon
According to Daily Mail Online, Brighton & Hove Albion are currently engaged in a battle with Levante for the signature of Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Joe Rodon this January transfer window. He has fallen out of favour under Antonio Conte and could be heading out of the club this month.
The Spanish side are keen on adding Rodon to their squad, while Brighton’s interest depends on the situation of Dan Burn. The latter is a target for Newcastle United, who could prise him away this month as they gear up to get ready for the relegation dogfight.
However, Newcastle are yet to meet the asking price as time runs out in the winter transfer window. It will be interesting to see how this situation develops and whether Tottenham would entertain an offer or not at the 11th hour.
Would Spurs sell?
The only game the 24-year-old had featured in recent times was against Morecambe in the FA Cup third round. That alone goes to show what Conte thinks of him and whether he has any future with us.
The Welshman’s lack of minutes is also at a time when Eric Dier and Cristian Romero have been out injured. If anything that showed Rodon’s standing at Tottenham at this moment in time.
What is peculiar is that Conte had mentioned earlier how he sees the Tottenham outcast as a backup option to Dier. Even with the latter’s injury, the Welsh international could not get into the team and it is doubtful if he will gain more prominence for the remainder of the season.

The Spurs star had never put a foot wrong when he played for us, even if he has not stood out due to his performances. Rodon also particularly stands out for Wales in international fixtures and has the potential to become a reliable player. However, with each passing day, his time at Spurs appears to be coming to an end.
So it would be best if we could move him out, which could bring in funds to make transfer moves of our own. Since Monday’s deadline will be upon us soon, the North London club should quickly decide on the matter so that Conte can decide on how best to approach the remaining games this season.
