Tottenham Hotspur prepare paperwork to sign Juventus star Dejan Kulusevski as they edge closer to loan deal
According to Italian football journalist Fabrizio Romano, Tottenham Hotspur are set to seal a loan deal for Juventus attacker Dejan Kulusevski, with the club working in tandem with Juve to prepare paperwork for the transfer.
Kulusevski has spent his entire senior career playing in Italy, making a name for himself while playing for Serie A side Parma. The attacker spent the majority of his time in the league on loan at the Ennio Tardini Stadium, with his parent clubs sending him to Parma twice on a short-term basis to continue his development as a footballer.
Now, the Swede looks set for yet another loan move, with Spurs said to have agreed on a loan fee of around €5m with Juventus to bring the player to north London until the end of the season.
Kulusevski is said to be jetting off to London to sign a deal with Spurs today, as the clubs look set to sign the paperwork for the loan deal by the end of the day. After days of speculation, it looks like the Lilywhites have finally got their man.
Spurs finally secure January transfer
Romano has also revealed the extent of the loan move for Kulusevski, as Tottenham agree on a deal that includes an option to buy. The clause becomes mandatory either in case Spurs manage to secure Champions League qualification, or they hand the Swede a certain number of appearances during the rest of the campaign.
With the clause valued at €40m with add-ons, Spurs’ football director Fabio Paratici seems to have finally landed the 21-year-old. It may feel like deja vu for Paratici, as he also helped Juventus to bring in Kulusevski from Atalanta, while he worked in Italy for the Bianconeri.
After Tottenham spent the entire transfer window looking for players that could help beef up their squad, it now seems like they have pulled a double swoop for Juventus players, with Spurs said to be confident about also adding defensive midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur to their ranks for €19m and certain add-ons.
The news about Kulusevski will please manager Antonio Conte, who has cried out for reinforcements in January as the Italian aims to work with players he believes can help push Spurs up the Premier League table and finish the season strongly.
Spurs have lacked creativity and energy in midfield this season, with laboured efforts on the pitch helping them to scrape valuable points at the end of a game. In Kulusevski, they have a versatile player who can either drop back in midfield or push up the pitch to support attackers. Conte will be hoping that the Swede does what is expected of him.

The Lilywhites currently sit seventh in the Premier League table, but with a couple of games in hand, they will look to make the most of their situation and gain maximum points from the remaining games. Kulusevski only has until the end of the season to impress, but expectations run high for the talented midfielder.
All that now remains is for our club to announce the transfer officially.
