Paul Parker believes Tottenham Hotspur can challenge for a Premier League title if Daniel Levy backs Antonio Conte
Speaking to BonusCodeBets (h/t football.london), ex-Manchester United player Paul Parker has urged Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy to help manager Antonio Conte find success at Spurs and lead them to a league title.
Conte took over at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium mid-season after the club sacked his predecessor Nuno Espirito Santo after a string of poor results which saw the club fall far down the Premier League table.
Parker, who is a two-time PL winner with Manchester United, believes that Spurs will be able to push for Champions League and Premier League glory with the Italian at the helm, but needs to be backed well by Levy.
“God help Daniel Levy if Tottenham get into a Champions League spot because then he’ll be going into a firepit because Conte then will be saying what he wants to go out and compete in the Champions League but more importantly to go out and win the Premier League title for Tottenham.”
Levy, who is known to be a bit shrewd with his transfer dealings, will need to open the chequebook to sign players that Conte requires. Only then can the club compete at the upper end of the English and European football pyramid.

Conte has won wherever he has managed, with league titles and domestic cup glory in both Italy and England under his belt. Given the right players, the Italian can work wonders and build together a squad capable of winning it all.
Parker was of the same opinion, saying that the Spurs boss has made a massive difference to the Tottenham team by elevating the performances of players and getting them into a winning groove.
“Conte is really a modern day manager who wins things. With Conte, you cannot rule out that fourth spot for Tottenham. He’s made a difference already, dealing with a lot of average footballers and he’s managed to get them in a groove together.”
Conte is a man with a plan, with a vision and work ethic that makes him an elite manager. Tottenham’s history with the former Chelsea manager has seen the Italian reject Spurs in the summer when they came calling for him, saying that he was not convinced by the project in north London.
The ex Inter Milan boss finally accepted the Lilywhites’ offer after they sacked Nuno, and Conte came in to help the club climb back up the league table and secure Champions League football for next season.

However, a few months into the job, Conte realised that the squad he was working with was not good enough to compete at the top, admitting that the side lacked quality. Spurs responded in the January transfer window by roping in Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur, to bolster the squad’s midfield for the remainder of the season.
Conte seems to be satisfied with his new signings for now, but like Parker mentioned, it may be a matter of time before the Italian requires more additions to the squad in order to compete regularly with the other European giants in elite competitions. Levy will need to comply because Conte guarantees trophies, and he may be the right man to end Spurs’ trophy drought.
