Manchester United and Arsenal make contact with the agent of Tottenham Hotspur target Paulo Dybala.

Transfer News: Tottenham Hotspur interested in signing Juventus star Paulo Dybala

According to the Express, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in signing Juventus forward Paulo Dybala in the summer, with the Argentine expected to be a free agent at the end of the season.

Dybala is in the midst of a contract tussle with Juventus, with neither club nor player able to come to an agreement regarding a new deal. As things stand, the Italian giants could lose Dybala for free at the end of the current campaign.

The forward is into the final few months of his contract, which means that he is free to speak to foreign clubs and sign a pre-contract agreement ahead of a summer switch. This augurs well for Antonio Conte and co as they look to improve the Spurs squad.

Spurs are coming off the back of a 2-0 loss against Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League, which resulted in manager Antonio Conte‘s third consecutive loss in the league with his new club. The lack of quality in the playing squad was laid bare for all to see in the last few weeks.

Juve connection

Conte will hope that the Lilywhites’ football director Fabio Paratici will use his connections with Juventus to sign the player in the summer for free. The Italian director spent the majority of his football administration career with the Serie A club before Spurs snapped him up in the previous summer.

Conte is an ex-Juventus man as well, both as player and manager, and led the club to multiple titles during his time with the club. All these connections with the Old Lady will excite Spurs fans about their chances to land Dybala for next season.

A highly-rated forward, signing the 28-year-old for free is a deal that is too good for any club to turn down. If they do decide to pursue the player, Spurs are expected to face competition from several top-flight clubs across Europe for the player’s signature.

This makes Spurs’ Juventus connection even more crucial in their efforts to snap up Dybala, given the long line expected for the striker. However, all this is conditional on the Italian heavyweights failing to convince the player to stay at the club for a few more years.

Whether Dybala is available for free or not at the end of the season, Conte will want Tottenham to go all out in the market for potential strikers to add to his attacking ranks. Currently, the club only have one senior striker in Harry Kane, and a backup striker will be a must in the summer.

Our January transfer window was slightly disappointing in the sense that we did not get our top targets, and Conte will want no repeats of the same in the summer.
