Pep Guardiola: Tottenham Hotspur rejected four offers from Manchester City for Harry Kane
Pep Guardiola has revealed that Tottenham Hotspur rejected four offers from Manchester City for Harry Kane in the previous summer transfer window. Both teams will face off against each other later today in a Premier League clash that will take place at Etihad Stadium.
Man City were in pursuit of Kane in the summer of 2021 following Sergio Aguero’s exit. However, a move never came to fruition despite them making a massive £127million transfer bid to try and secure his services. It appears to have harmed them little as Pep Guardiola’s side are in a commanding position in the Premier League title race.
Speaking in the pre-match presser (h/t The Guardian), Guardiola has conveyed more information regarding their failed approach for the England international. He added that Tottenham dismissed City’s proposals four times, which eventually resulted in the latter calling off their pursuit.
“We tried [for Kane] but it was far away [from] being done because Tottenham were clear this is not going to happen. And when they say this two, three, four times, it’s over.”
Could City try again?
The 28-year-old has had a tough time at Tottenham since his failed transfer move, having struggled to replicate the sensational form from last season. That has changed following the arrival of Antonio Conte as the centre-forward finally appears to have found his feet.
The latter scored eight goals alongside two assists from 19 appearances across all competitions since the Italian took over the reins at N17. Even where goals were difficult to come under Conte, Kane’s overall performance and work ethic have been exemplary.
It is still unknown at this point whether the England captain or Guardiola’s side would push for a move once again in the summer transfer window. We hope that is not the case as the forward would undoubtedly be crucial to the project we are building with the help of the 52-year-old boss.

Who knows, maybe a strong result against the Premier League holders later today could convince the Spurs superstar that we can challenge for the titles in the future. Then again, one outcome would not matter on its own, which is proved by our victory against them early in the season.
Time will tell what lies in store for us regarding this issue as we near the summer transfer window. But we are hopeful that Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici can back the Tottenham manager through signings in an attempt to build a strong team to challenge for titles.
