Antonio Conte disappointed with Ryan Sessegnon and other Tottenham Hotspur players
According to Alasdair Gold, the club’s correspondent of Football.London, Antonio Conte is disappointed with Ryan Sessegnon and other Tottenham Hotspur players following the loss to Burnley. Spurs were handed a damning 1-0 defeat on the night, crippling their efforts to finish in the top four.
It is claimed that Conte is frustrated with the Tottenham squad even though he has not publicly criticised them so far. Moreover, he is hesitant to do that as it could prove to be counterproductive in the end. That being said, the boss felt let down by several players, which was the case against the Clarets at Turf Moor.
Sessegnon is one of the players who have been named specifically following the defeat at the hands of Sean Dyche’s side. The Italian coach admires the wingbacks shown so far. The manager believes that the 21-year-old needs to have more confidence in himself to fulfil the potential he has shown.

The 52-year-old boss is absolutely right in this case as this has been “normal” within the club since the decline has started for quite some years. Most of the January outgoings fell under the same category, but there are still players within the squad who are not good enough to compete at the top regularly.
Moreover, even the ever-reliable ones cannot have failed to step up and perform consistently at the top level. As for Sessegnon, he has always shown promise, which is why we were prompted to purchase him from Fulham for £25million in the first place.
Sessegnon has certainly shown flashes of promise but has never lived up to the expectation at which he was brought into the club. The Englishman’s display was the same yesterday as he failed to take that extra step to get the most out of situations even when he got into great positions.
It is understandable why Conte rates Sessegnon so highly and is disappointed for the same reason. Perhaps, the Spurs star is held back by the injury issues that have plagued him constantly for quite some time. He could be wary about exerting himself to give his all as he did during his days at the Championship.

Whatever the case it may be, Sessegnon and others must support their coach to ensure they become successful at the club. Trophies have eluded us for so long, and if they have ambitions to hold one, they must back their boss moving forward.
Conte has proven himself at his previous clubs, so a failure at N17 would mostly not be on his head, considering the challenges he is currently facing at the club.
