Leicester City and West Ham United among clubs targeting Tottenham Hotspur defender Cameron Carter-Vickers
According to TEAMtalk (h/t Bournemouth Echo), Leicester City and West Ham United are among multiple clubs plotting to sign Tottenham Hotspur centre-back Cameron Carter-Vickers. He is currently plying his trade on loan at Scottish giants Celtic, where he has done well so far this season.
Carter-Vickers’s loan spell at Celtic Park has been successful, which could be the reason why he has attracted attention from a cluster of clubs. Leicester and West Ham are keeping tabs on the situation to secure his signature before the other interested parties.
Premier League clubs like Watford, Burnley and Wolverhampton Wanderers are also monitoring the 24-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window. That’s not all, as several Championship sides, namely Middlesbrough, West Bromwich Albion and Bournemouth, have also expressed their interest to finalise a move.
What will Spurs do?
The stance from our side regarding the United States international would probably depend on what Antonio Conte thinks about him. We could decide to use his services, considering the struggles we have seen in the backline over the past few games.
While Davinson Sanchez has improved under Conte, he still commits mistakes occasionally, which does not bode well for us. Ben Davies has done well in the centre-back role, but he cannot be depended on in the long term as he is not a natural central defender.
Joe Rodon has been cast aside by the Italian manager, whereas Japhet Tanganga has failed to build on his initial promise. Carter-Vickers can help us in that regard, but it would be down to whether Conte believes he can do a job for us going forward.

If the 52-year-old manager does not require the Tottenham defender, we could be in line to receive a windfall considering the number of clubs vying to secure his services. That being said, the cards are in the Scottish club’s hands at the moment, considering the buy option included in the loan transfer.
The Celts would need to part ways with £10million in transfer fees to finalise a permanent move. It remains to be seen what the interested clubs will do in the upcoming summer transfer window.
