Chelsea told to target Tottenham Hotspur star Harry Kane in Romelu Lukaku swap.

Harry Kane faces uncertain future at Tottenham Hotspur after FA Cup exit

According to the Evening Standard, the future of Harry Kane is once again a matter of much debate after Tottenham Hotspur suffered a damning exit from the FA Cup yesterday. His side lost 1-0 on the night as Middlesbrough knocked them out, extinguishing any hopes of ending the campaign with a trophy.

The fifth round exit has put Kane’s future into further doubts as his desire to win silverware is pretty much well known at this point. He wanted to win titles with Tottenham, but his decision could either way at this point following the cup defeat. It is stated that there is a “50/50” chance of him pushing to leave once again next summer.

The England skipper has previously mentioned to his close associates that winning the FA Cup could be influential on his future decision. Since that is no longer a possibility, his decision could ultimately depend on Antonio Conte’s long term prospects. The forward will also assess whether the manager will be sufficiently backed in the transfer windows to improve the squad.

Spurs to face pressure?

Since the 29-year-old will see his contract expire only in the summer of 2024, we could decide to keep him even if he pushed for a move. However, there arises the question of whether it would be wise to keep hold of him once again after what had unravelled last summer.

The Tottenham ace has found himself on the wrong side of many supporters after pressuring the club to let him leave to Manchester City. He could see himself again in that position, but it is understandable if we look through his perspective. After all, a man of his quality would want to add trophies to his playing career.

Now, it is up to the North London side to convince him that we are building a project under Conte. The FA Cup exit does not help at all, but we could still have a chance of achieving Champions League qualification for the next season. That being said, there must be a turnaround in our current form to even think about that possibility.

Fortunately for us, Daniel Levy has promised the Spurs manager that he will be backed in the future transfer windows to improve the quality of the squad. The lack of adequate options in the midfield is enough of an example to indicate the task that awaits the club in the summer transfer window.

That means we must learn from the mistakes made in January and bring in our desired transfer targets. We are hopeful that Fabio Paratici and co would back the man in charge after this season, whereby Kane can also be convinced about the current project. Whether that will happen or not would only be known in due time.
