Tottenham Hotspur monitor Everton star Jordan Pickford ahead of summer transfer window
According to The Telegraph (Subscription Required), Tottenham Hotspur are keeping tabs on Everton star Jordan Pickford ahead of the summer transfer window. He could end up being subjected to bids after this season following the severance of sponsorship deals with USM recently.
Farhad Moshiri, the Toffees’ owner, decided to end all professional ties with Alisher Usmanov, who was on the board of USM, a Russian holding company before the latter resigned from his role due to his close connections to Vladimir Putin. This decision was taken following Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, which has deservingly received widespread criticisms.
The suspended sponsorship deals saw the Merseyside club lose a combined £20million per season, which has attracted attention from other clubs. They are looking to take advantage of the financial blow, with Tottenham also being in the same boat. Pickford has been on their radar as the North London side’s result ahead of next summer.
Pickford to Spurs?
The Englishman would still have two years left on his current contract in the summer transfer window. Whether Frank Lampard’s side would be willing to part ways with him or not is still unknown. They could decide to keep him as they look to rebuild under their new manager.
However, their financial issues could get even worse if they end up getting relegated to the Championship at the end of this campaign. They are just one point above the relegation battle at this moment and in real threat of going down. If that does happen, it remains to be seen if we could get a foothold in that case.
We have plans to identify a long term successor to Hugo Lloris as he is in the latter stages of his playing career. He would eventually need to be replaced moving forward, but doubts can be raised about whether Pickford would be the right man or not. After all, we are building a project under Antonio Conte, and we need quality additions who can help us to raise our level.

Pickford would be a solid choice for a mid-table club, plus his displays have been questionable at times occasionally. As such, it would be best if our attention is focused elsewhere as the 27-year-old would not fill us with confidence in between the posts.
Lloris has extended his current contract with us, which will see him stay with Spurs until 2024. That does give us some time to find an adequate replacement rather than someone who is inconsistent at this moment. We are hopeful that Fabio Paratici and co would be reasonable and end our pursuit to sign Pickford. Only time will give us an answer on whether that is the case or not.
