Paris Saint-Germain make contact with Tottenham Hotspur sporting director Fabio Paratici
According to reports in France and Italy, (h/t Mirror), Paris Saint-Germain are seemingly interested in Tottenham Hotspur sporting director Fabio Paratici. The French club could look to replace their current director Leonardo after a disappointing defeat to Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.
The 49-year-old sporting director built his name at former club Juventus before joining the Lilwyhites last June. His acumen in recruiting players at the elite level could be a big asset for the North Londoners in the long term.
The process of slowly rebuilding the club could take some time but Spurs seem to be heading in a positive direction at the moment, especially after the appointment of Antonio Conte as their manager.
The Parisiens have spent handsomely on assembling a stellar squad. They have some of football’s biggest stars such as Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Neymar in their ranks. Despite this star-studded attacking lineup, they have struggled to cement themselves as heavyweights in European competitions.
Fabio Paratici and should we be afraid of PSG?
The French Club faced yet another humiliating defeat at the hands of Los Blancos at the Santiago Bernabeu on 10th March and this could prompt a change in the hierarchy. Paratici’s experience and links could help them lure young talents and create a stronger spine in the team.
The apparent interest from PSG, however, could spell bad news for the club from N-17. The Lilywhites have struggled over the last few years and many of their top signings such as Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso have struggled to hit the ground running on a consistent basis at Spurs.
The North Londoners would therefore have brought the former Juventus sporting director in an attempt to make the recruitment process more effective. Whilst this is an important aspect for any top club, it usually requires a lot of patience and support from the owners.
The Lilywhites have put in some impressive performances in the recent fixtures in the Premier League. The match against Manchester United will be a test and could possibly predict whether or not Spurs have a decent chance of making a top-four finish in the English top-flight league this campaign.

While there seems to be a renewed sense of enthusiasm at Tottenham, a figure like Paratici could be key if we want to keep growing. The club would thus have to be on the lookout now so that we do not lose a crucial member of our hierarchy to the cash-rich Ligue 1 club.
An astute operator at Juventus, it is clear that Paritici knows what he is doing at N17. Let’s give the process time- at least until the end of next season- and then form our judgements on the Italian.
