Bayern Munich and Real Madrid lead race to sign Ajax star Ryan Gravenberch amidst Tottenham Hotspur interest
According to Kicker via Fussball News (h/t Liverpool Echo), Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are the favourites to secure the services of Ajax star Ryan Gravenberch amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur. He is another one of the talented prospects to rise from the famous youth system of Ajax in the past few years.
Gravenberch has attracted a lot of attention since he broke into the first team setup under Erik ten Hag. That has also caused clubs like Tottenham, Bayern Munchen and Real to battle it out with each other to facilitate a move for him ahead of next season. However, it is the latter duo who is in the lead at this moment, which would undoubtedly be a damning blow for the English side.
That being said, Spurs are not the only club who are vying to secure the Dutchman’s signature from the Premier League. Liverpool are keeping tabs on the current situation as well, although claims of their interest in him have waned over the past few weeks or so.
More transfer blows?
The 19-year-old did endure a difficult start to the 2021-22 campaign, but he has turned things around since the January transfer window. One of his best performances this season came against Cambuur in the Eredivisie recently as he scored a last-minute winner to give them three points at the end of the day.
The Eredivisie star did also provide two assists in that match as Ten Hag’s side won 3-2 in a highly contested fixture. That helped them to maintain their two-point lead at the top of the league table. That means the midfielder now has two goals and six assists to his name this season from 35 appearances across all competitions.
It is no wonder why top clubs are looking to bring in such a talented prospect to their respective squads. We are trailing the race at the moment, but the board must retaliate and put us ahead if there are ambitions to challenge for silverware under Antonio Conte.
After all, the midfield is one of those areas where we are desperate to strengthen, considering how there are just four choices available for Conte right now. Frustratingly enough, Oliver Skipp has been out of contention for about two months, which leaves Rodrigo Bentancur, Harry Winks and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the squad.

That is a major concern if we hope to go through an entire season. Hence, the management must address the issue and bring in someone who can add more quality and depth at the same time. Gravenberch can be that man, and he could also add more creativity to our side as our midfielder has looked stagnant at times which was the case in our defeat to Manchester United.
Only time will tell what lies in store for us regarding our pursuit of the Dutch international. It would no doubt be challenging to pip Bayern and Los Blancos, but we are hopeful that the North London side can do just that in the future.
