Hugo Lloris gives assurance about Antonio Conte staying at Tottenham Hotspur
According to the Evening Standard, Hugo Lloris has provided a firm assurance to the supporters that Antonio Conte will stay on at Tottenham Hotspur. There have been some concerns regarding the manager’s future prospects at North London following his words regarding a potential departure.
Conte has expressed quite a lot of times this season that he could leave Tottenham in a worst-case scenario. That was also the case before the recent 2-0 win against Brighton and Hove Albion when the boss conveyed in the pre-match presser that he could depart the club if his “vision” is not shared by the board.
Speaking in an interview after the league clash against the Seagulls, Lloris has revealed that in the short time he has spent with the Italian tactician, the boss’ passion makes him express his emotions freely at times. The Spurs skipper added that he could understand the frustration and was adamant that the manager would stay with them through all hardships.
“After four months we start to know each other well, I think Antonio is showing a lot of passion and he’s doing his job with a lot of emotion. At some moments we can understand his frustration. The players as well, we have this frustration but we keep going, we keep working. Antonio and his staff provided the best from day one and they are not the kind of people who are going to give up in any circumstances.”
Was it even necessary?
Last week, the 52-year-old manager himself clarified that he is fully committed to the project that is being built at the club. Then again, it is understandable since there have been links with a move to Paris Saint-Germain recently which stated that he is engaged in talks over a potential move.
Not to mention, it was claimed that there is an exit clause in the former Chelsea boss’ contract, which would help him leave us this summer without the club’s intervention. Supposedly, he was also keen to join PSG, which could have played a part in the concerns that were formed recently.

However, Conte’s and Lloris’ words should clear out any fears that some of the supporters have regarding this subject. Their worries could be down to the boss’ constant warning about a potential departure, but as the skipper mentioned, it is simply down to the renowned passion that he displays.
Now it is up to Daniel Levy and Fabio Paratici to back Conte in the coming transfer windows with appropriate signings to uplift the quality of the squad. Let’s hope to see that happen so that their actions would go in line with the coach’s vision while building this project.
