Japhet Tanganga might have played his last game for Tottenham Hotspur.

Tottenham Hotspur defender Japhet Tanganga out for remainder of the season

According to Football.London, Japhet Tanganga is set to miss the rest of the season for Tottenham Hotspur. The 22-year-old defender recently underwent surgery due to injury and will now begin recovery.

The English defender has made 19 appearances across all competitions for the Lilywhites this season. Tanganga who is majorly deployed as a centre-back can also be used as a right-back should the need arise.

This kind of versatility helps add another dimension to the squad. That being said, the academy graduate was still trying to cement a regular position in the starting 11 off-late and this injury could potentially rule out whatever momentum he had in his favour.

While the London-born player wasn’t a regular starter, he did provide Antonio Conte with a dependable option at the back when the likes of Eric Dier and Cristian Romero were unavailable.

The 22-year-old previously expressed his gratitude towards the Italian manager for giving the youngster opportunities to prove himself. With a trimmed-down squad, the 52-year-old manager will be sweating every injury scare and absentee at the momentum.

The Lilywhites have struggled with injury scares through the season, especially in their backline. Ryan Sessegnon who was also starting to make a substantial impact with the North Londoners is another starlet who has suffered nagging injury issues in recent times.

The piling scares could do the club from N-17 a lot of harm in their pursuit of consistency. Whilst the club may not have to deal with the pressure of competing across several competitions, they will have to notch up an impressive run of victories if they are to salvage anything this season.

As things stand a top-four finish in the Premier League can be considered as the most realistic target in sight. The North Londoners have been fragile at the back on instances and the lack of options in reserve could provide Conte with a headache.

The former Chelsea manager will be hoping that he doesn’t have to hear any more injury issues in a season that has already been a roller coaster journey. We hope Japhet Tanganga makes an ideal recovery and changes things for the better in his Tottenham Hotspur career.
