Fabrizio Romano: European clubs including Barcelona in pursuit of Tottenham Hotspur star Sergio Reguilon
According to the transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, several top European clubs, including Barcelona, have identified Tottenham Hotspur star Sergio Reguilon as a potential target ahead of the summer transfer window. He has been one of the most improved players for his side since Antonio Conte took over the managerial job back in November.
Reguilon’s solid performances have not gone unnoticed as Barca have expressed their interest and are monitoring his situation right now. Multiple unknown top European sides are in the fray as well, making life very difficult for Tottenham. Romano claims that all the teams have equal chances to secure his signature as the race is still open at this moment.
That being said, Real Madrid have the option to buy back the Spaniard in the summer transfer window. They will need to part ways with €40million if they want to bring him back to Santiago Bernabeu. Spurs could find it really challenging to keep hold of him in this case, but it would ultimately depend on the player himself.
Reject all advances!
There is no way that we should entertain any offers for the 25-year-old moving forward. The defender is one of the most important players in our ranks, and he is yet to fully achieve his peak so far. Conte can help him reach newer heights, just as the boss has done in the short time he spent with the wingback.
However, the most concerning part of this news is the buy-back clause that the Madrid club had included when we initially bought the Premier League star. We could have incurred up to £32million for his services as add-ons are also a part of the amount.
We are helpless if Los Blancos would try to trigger the clause in the summer transfer window. That is a possibility that we must consider, especially when Marcelo is set to leave the club after this season. With Ferland Mendy being the only other option, we are in a bit of a rut because of this situation.

As such, we are forced to depend on the Spanish international himself. A return to the La Liga side may not be in his best interest with Mendy in the ranks. However, staying with us, on the other hand, can give him more opportunities to be a starter and even improve under the Italian boss.
That is especially the case with Ryan Sessengong’s injury plight as he continues to struggle with problems in his hamstring. Let’s hope that the Spurs boss can convince Reguilon to stay with us with the help of the project he is looking to build for a better future.
