Antonio Conte moans about the international break as Tottenham Hotspur down West Ham United
In his post-match conference, as quoted by Football.London, Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte talked about the possible repercussions of the International break after his side managed a clinical victory against West Ham United
The Lilywhites put up an amazing performance at Hotspur Way, recording a stellar 3-1 victory against the Hammers. Son Heung-Min got on the scoresheet either side of the half as the North Londoners created some great attacking moves on the day.
Harry Kane was an exceptional figure playing key roles in the build-up to both the goals scored by the Korean international. Spurs went toe to toe with their opponents who are known for causing a grave upset on their day.
Speaking in the post-match conference (h/t Football.London), the Italian manager acknowledged that Spurs were starting to build momentum but rued the fact that the International break had to come at such a key moment.
“It’s a pity to have this international break in this moment because we’re in good form. The players have to go off and we’ll see them in 9/10 days. With the others, we’ll have a combination of rest and work but we want to exploit this period to continue to improve the players here.”
A step in the right direction
Apart from the victory, there were many positive signs on the pitch. The club from N-17 controlled possession for a majority of the game and showed great drive and intent to get into the opposition half.
The ‘Kane-Son’ duo once again showed us why they are so dangerous on the front foot and January signings Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur also put in solid performances. More importantly, the Lilwyhites didn’t lose their calm after Said Benrahma got one back for the West London club in the first half.
Tottenham simply continued to pile the pressure and were justly rewarded as the South Korean international sealed the deal in the 88th minute of the game. The Italian manager would be proud of his boys tonight.
With this victory, Spurs inch closer to a top-four finish in the Premier League. There are great signs of improvement and the core players now seem to have gotten a good understanding of their role in the game.

The international break could cause a huge disturbance in this momentum and quite a few of our fans would be echoing the same concerns put forward by the 52-year-old manager. Let us hope that the players won’t be affected by this break and finish out the rest of the season with a bang.
More importantly, let us hope that none of them come back with injuries. A fit and firing squad is a must if we want to close this season in style.
