Tottenham Hotspur star Hugo Lloris reflects on the improvements under Antonio Conte
Hugo Lloris has provided his insight on the improvements Tottenham Hotspur have shown under Antonio Conte so far. His team have taken an upward trend since the latter’s appointment when compared to their time under the previous manager, Nuno Espirito Santo.
Conte has lifted the entire quality of the Tottenham squad in the short time he has spent at the club. While his team did get knocked out of several cup competitions, it is clear as daylight that the manager has improved the players. That is perhaps best conveyed by his side being in the fifth position in the Premier League at the moment.
Speaking in an interview with N17 Live (h/t Tottenham Hotspur official website), Lloris has expressed his thoughts on the matter and is adamant that the entire team is building towards a brighter future. He has also added that they would need to keep pushing forward after the international break to maintain their momentum for the remainder of this season.
“The result is the most important thing in football, and I believe we are building something under Antonio Conte and his staff, there is one way and direction we want to follow, after four months together now we start to know each other well, and we can see the improvements. There are nine games to go, 27 points on the table and I think after the international break, full of energy, we need to push again.”
Can Conte take Spurs to glory?
We cannot blame the Italian coach for the shortcomings in the cup competitions as our squad were simply not good enough to compete with the likes of Chelsea. Perhaps, the biggest disappointment was our loss to Middlesbrough, which showed the soft underbelly we possess despite the quality on the sidelines.
Even after taking into account all the setbacks that we have suffered, it is clearly noticeable that we have improved under the 52-year-old coach. We are confident that the team can achieve newer heights once the board backs the manager through signings in the coming transfer windows.
Perhaps the first step will be to finish in the top four places in the Premier League table. The team needs to push forward with the maximum effort in the rest of this campaign to reach that objective that the Spurs captain has mentioned.

After all, doing so would undoubtedly contribute to our long term success in several ways. The morale of the players would be massively boosted while Champions League football can also help us attract some of the best players in world football at this instant.
Whether that will happen or not would only be known in due time, but what we can do to ensure that is by continuing from where we left off before the break.
