Tottenham Hotspur get injury boost as Ryan Sessegnon eyes Brighton return after stepping up recovery

According to ESPN, Tottenham Hotspur have been handed a boost as Ryan Sessegnon is targeting a return against Brighton after stepping up his recovery following a hamstring injury. This would be a great piece of news for his side as they currently have only Sergio Reguilon as a left-wingback option.

Sessegnon had picked up the blow on March 7 against Everton in the Premier League, which saw him suffer yet another hamstring injury. Such setbacks have been common since his £25million move from Fulham back in 2019. The latest problem saw his run of six consecutive appearances getting brought to a close which was his highest since his transfer.

The Englishman is now eyeing a return against Brighton and Hove Albion on April 16. He has stepped up his rehab phase to outdoor work, although there are no plans to rush things due to his previous issues with his hamstring. Spurs initially hoped to have him back in contention just after the international break, but he will miss the matches against Newcastle United and Aston Villa.

Great news for Spurs!

It is good to know that the 21-year-old will soon begin his rehabilitation with outdoor methods to get back into full fitness. Getting him back to 100 per cent as early as possible is a necessity as we are pursuing a top-four finish in the Premier League this season.

At the same time, we do not want him to suffer another relapse, so the North London club must look to take the utmost care with the Premier League defender. It is unfortunate how these recurring hamstring problems have affected him throughout his time with us so far.

The latest one came at the worst time as the Spurs wingback was looking to be at his best since leaving Fulham back in 2019. Let’s hope that the defender can get back his match sharpness as early as possible so that he can continue to build on the progress from where he left off.

Sessegnon’s unavailability against Newcastle and Villa would be a blow indeed as both teams have improved a lot in recent times. He could certainly have contributed to help us get the better off them, but now we must take care of the business without his services.

Antonio Conte is due to have a press conference ahead of our PL clash with the Magpies on Sunday. Let’s wait and see if we will receive further updates on the matter alongside other injury concerns as well. We are hopeful that Sessegnon can finally put behind his recurring hamstring struggles once he returns to be in contention.
