Antonio Conte expresses his desire for Harry Kane to stay at Tottenham Hotspur
Antonio Conte has expressed his desire for Harry Kane to stay at Tottenham Hotspur past this summer transfer window. The boss has helped the striker to find his lost mojo after the struggles the latter underwent in the first half of this season.
Kane was subjected to a failed move to Manchester City last summer, having pushed for it himself. He may have become disillusioned with life at Tottenham as a man of his talents would probably aspire to win titles. Since Conte has come into the managerial helm, there has been a sense of belief that he can finally put an end to this trophy drought. Perhaps that trust could have played a part in helping the striker regain his drive and push resulting in an upturn in form recently.
Speaking in an open interview (h/t Fabrizio Romano on Twitter), Conte has conveyed that he wants the England skipper to stay at Spurs in the future as well. The coach also suggested that a great finish to this campaign could help them convince the centre-forward in that regard.
“For sure, I’d love Harry to stay here… and it would be very important to have a good end to the season. He’s a player that every manager wants in his own team. There’s a great connection with Harry. He’s a top player”.
Will Kane stay at Spurs?
The Italian boss also lavished praises on the 28-year-old while mentioning that he has a great relationship with the talisman. We are hopeful that the superstar will stay with us due to the connection he has built with the manager.
The former Inter Milan coach has achieved success at his previous clubs, which means that he could repeat the same here as well with proper support. Having Kane among his options would greatly help as the forward is one of the best in his positions in world football at this moment.
Kane’s 15 goals and five assists from 27 matches under Conte are a great example of the relationship they have built following the summer saga. Nuno Espirito Santo perhaps failed to instil that confidence which could be why the attacker struggled in the first half of this term.

Conte may have hinted that the North London side would need to have a great end to this campaign to make the best case for themselves. That is understandable, especially looking at how things were last summer. Achieving Champions League qualification would be a major boost as it can fill Kane with the confidence of finally having a shot at winning titles at his childhood club.
We are confident that Conte can put a stop to this trophy drought we have been going through if he is backed properly. We would still need to bolster the squad in several areas to compete at the top level. However, a top-four finish in the Premier League would help attract top prospects while retaining someone like Kane in the process. Only time will give us an answer on the subject as we near the summer transfer window.
