Transfer News: Aston Villa enter race for PSV Eindhoven winger Noni Madueke amidst Tottenham Hotspur interest
According to talkSPORT (h/t Yorkshire Evening Post), Aston Villa have entered the race to secure the services of PSV Eindhoven winger Noni Madueke amidst interest from Tottenham Hotspur. He has continued to build on his breakthrough into the first-team set-up last season and has not looked back since then.
Madueke was a former academy prospect at Tottenham who left for PSV back in 2018. He rose through the ranks and finally achieved promotion to the first team in 2020. He has been excellent for them since becoming a regular and has attracted attention from the Premier League due to those displays.
Spurs have already been linked with a move for the 20-year-old ahead of the summer transfer window. Leeds United are in the same boat, but both the two clubs will now have to deal with interest from Villa as well. It remains to be seen what lies in store for the talented prospect at the end of this term.
Spurs to re-sign Madueke?
The U21 England international has been a menacing presence in attack for the Dutch club this campaign, having made 32 appearances for them so far. He has scored nine goals and assisted five times in the process during this period, which is a fine return for a youngster who is still developing his talents.
The Eredivisie forward has showcased all the signs of becoming a decisive attacking presence at such a young age. By combining his speed with his splendid dribbling abilities, he is very unpredictable and has terrorised opposition defence in the Netherlands.
Madueke is an able dribbler and can take on defenders down the flank. Would he be willing to rejoin Spurs and make us realize we were wrong in letting him leave? That is something that can only be known in due time.
The entry of Steven Gerrard’s side does not help us as it adds to the obstacles that we need to overcome to get our hands on the former Spurs attacker. Leeds would also pose heavy competition, especially when Raphinha has been linked with an exit after this term.
We are certainly covered with options on the right-hand flank, with talented Brazilian forward Lucas Moura finding game time hard to come by. That is because of Dejan Kulusevski, who has been excellent since joining us in the January transfer window. One would wonder if Moura is willing to play second fiddle to Kulusevski moving forward.

Madueke, being the young and explosive talent he is, would understand that if he moves to another league- such as the PL- and joins a big club, he would have to wait his chance and prove his worth. However, neither his nor the Eredivisie club’s stance on the matter is unknown for now, so let’s wait and see how this situation pans out in the coming months.
