Tottenham Hotspur looking to raid Torino for Gleison Bremer and Wilfried Singo

According to the Italian newspaper Tuttosport [Print Edition] (h/t The Express), Tottenham Hotspur are planning to raid Torino for signing Gleison Bremer and Wilfried Singo after this season. The English club are laying down the foundations for their defensive summer plans, and they have identified the duo as potential targets.

Fabio Paratici, in particular, is eager to bring in Bremer and Singo to Tottenham in the summer transfer window. The Managing Director of Football is “pushing strongly” to finalise a move for the defensive duo at the end of this term. Antonio Conte was not provided with any reinforcements in the backline in January, which Paratici is looking to solve moving forward.

It is claimed that the Serie A duo could cost Spurs £41.5million in transfer fees in total. Bremer had recently extended his current contract to 2024, but he could be tempted to join forces with Conte at N17. Singo, meanwhile, is targeted to bolster the right wing-back position this summer.

Necessary signings?

Bremer is a pretty obvious case in and of itself after taking a look at our current centre-back options. Joe Rodon and Davinson Sanchez have been cast aside by the Tottenham boss, whereas Japhet Tanganga can be improved with a better signing in place for him.

That leaves us with Cristian Romero, Eric Dier and Ben Davies as the reliable set of choices. However, Davies is not a natural central defender, and it would be wise to use someone accustomed to that position moving forward. Hence, Bremer would be a great option, considering how he has developed over the past few years.

As for Singo, it is a bit more complex following Matt Doherty’s improvement in form before he suffered the season-ending injury. There is no reason for us to part ways with Doherty in such a case, but the concerns lie with Emerson Royal, who has been disappointing with his displays so far.

Signing Singo will only make sense if there is a departure as well, which points the finger to Emerson for now. However, questions can be raised on whether the North London side would be looking to move on someone whom they signed only last summer.

Then again, we must discuss the matter with Conte and take appropriate actions as necessary. The expense for bringing in Singo and Bremer is fairly priced, considering how both of them have performed in Italy. Defensive reinforcements are needed if there are plans to challenge for winning titles in the future.

Only time will tell whether we can sign the Torino duo or not this summer. We hope that is the case, as it would greatly boost the squad’s quality and give Conte a better foundation to work with in his first full season at N17.
