Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with Inter Milan for right-back Denzel Dumfries
According to Tuttosport as relayed by Sports Witness (h/t The Express), Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Inter Milan defensive ace Denzel Dumfries after missing out on Adama Traore in the winter transfer window. It is believed that a sum of £35 million could be enough to lure him away from the defending Serie A champions.
The Dutch defender has enjoyed a great start to life at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza. The 26-year-old defender has already bagged four goals and five assists in 28 Serie A games for the Nerazzurri this campaign to date.
His exploits haven’t gone unnoticed as it is believed that Bayern Munich are also interested in the Dutch international. Dumfries has grown under the tutelage of Simeone Inzaghi and could be a great acquisition for the North Londoners.
Dumfries to Spurs?
The Lilywhites have been linked with Tariq Lamptey, Traore, and Max Aarons. This along with the interest in the Dutch international relays a sense of urgency by the club, to add suitable reinforcement at right-back.
Matt Doherty who was slowly starting to cement a starting position under the Italian manager is currently out injured. Emerson Royal has deputised in his absence on the right-flank but his performances have blown hot and cold ever since arriving at the club from N-17.
The Italian manager imbibes an intense brand of attacking football where the wing-backs or full-backs play a major role. As such a lot of creative and attacking onus is put on them with the team heavily relying on them in both halves.
At 26, the Dutch defender could still have some of his prime footballing years ahead of him. He showcases great abilities with the ball and the ability to work under a manager like Conte could be a lucrative deal.
