Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte is now the favourite for the PSG manager role
According to the French outlet Le 10 Sport (h/t The Sun), Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has become the favourite to take over the manager role at PSG after this season. This news would undoubtedly deal a damning blow to the English club and their future prospects.
Mauricio Pochettino is expected to be sacked by Paris Saint-Germain at the end of this term. That has seen Conte getting linked with a move to replace him at the French capital, although now it is stated that he is the frontrunner for the coaching job. That is because Zinedine Zidane seems to be becoming out of contention by the minute.
Zidane is currently linked with a move to taking over the reins at the French national team. What’s more, RMC Sport (h/t The Sun) claims that Conte has already revealed his salary demand to the French side. He supposedly wants to earn around £25million per year, which eclipses his current wages of £13million at Spurs.
Doubtful
It is well known how Conte is known for his winning mentality and how he does not back down from a challenge at hand. As such, departing Tottenham mid-way through his project would go against his own methods, which casts doubts on this latest update.
That is if the Italian manager is properly backed, as he has revealed previously about his intentions to stay past this summer if the management are on a similar page with him. If that is the case, then there is no reason for us to worry about this news since there has not been any reason for a divide between the boss and the board.
After all, the hierarchy can only prove their stance during transfer windows, which are due to come only this summer. What’s more, they have also brought in Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur in January, and the duo has been instant successes at N17 as well.
Hence, we must not spread negativity within the fanbase as the media are simply looking to gain some clicks with this so-called news. Even the ever-reliable Alasdair Gold has recently expressed how there are no weights to these links to the Ligue 1 side, indicating how we should not be affected by this information.

That being said, Daniel Levy and co must not give Conte any reason to rethink his stance about staying with us moving forward. We finally have a proven world-class coach in our ranks, so the club must do their best to support him to give us the success that we have been yearning for so long.
The links to PSG can be viewed as a warning sign of what could potentially happen should Conte find himself in disagreement with the North Londoners. However, we should just brush it off for now and not give attention to them for the above reasons.
