Tottenham Hotspur submit offer to sign Besiktas left-back Ridvan Yilmaz in the summer
According to Turkish outlet Turkiye Gazetesi (h/t football.london), Tottenham Hotspur have submitted an offer to Besiktas to sign their left-back Ridvan Yilmaz in the upcoming summer transfer window.
Next season will see manager Antonio Conte take charge of the side in his debut full season in north London, and expectations are high. The Italian has been backed to break the club’s long-standing trophy drought, given his reputation.
Conte has managed to deliver silverware to all his former employers, with an impressive CV that has seen him win trophies with several teams across multiple competitions. He moved to Tottenham immediately after winning the Serie A title with Inter Milan.
The squad he has inherited from Nuno Espirito Santo is currently sitting in fifth place in the Premier League table, battling Arsenal, Manchester United, and West Ham United for a place in the top four of the points tally to secure Champions League football next term.
Need for full-backs at Spurs
Given the kind of talent he has at his disposal, Conte has made it abundantly clear that the team need new full-backs in the summer. It now seems as though the Lilywhites have identified Yilmaz as a potential target, and the 20-year-old looks keen on a move to the Premier League too, as he has asked Besiktas not to stand in the way of a possible transfer.
Spurs football diretor Fabio Paratici is said to have submitted a £6.7m offer for the left-back, although the Turkish club are hopeful of receiving around £8.5m to part ways with the starlet at the end of the season.
The winter transfer window in January saw Paratici take until deadline day to snap up new signings, having lost out on their earlier targets and resorting to raiding his former employers Juventus to sign Dejan Kulusevksi and Rodrigo Bentancur.
Though not his first preference, Conte has been left impressed by the stars that Paratici added to the squad. The manager will now expect the same from the director once again, with full-backs the new priority.

At left-back, the first team currently has Sergio Reguilon and Ryan Sessegnon battling it out for a spot in the starting lineup, but neither have been convincing enough to stake a place for themselves. At times, right-back Matt Doherty has filled in instead of these two naturally left-footed players.
There seems to be a bit of a price difference between Tottenham’s offer and the asking price Besiktas have set for Yilmaz, but the hope is that this gets resolved soon and an agreement is come to. The youngster is itching for a move to England as well, which could work in Paratici’s favour.
