Antonio Conte reveals his thoughts on demand made by Harry Kane ahead of Tottenham Hotspur vs Leicester City
Speaking in his pre-match presser as quoted by The Express, Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte spoke about the mammoth task of winning every game in the Premier League ahead of the tie vs Leicester City. These comments were made with respect to earlier comments made by Harry Kane urging his players to win all their remaining fixtures in hand.
The English captain issued a rallying cry to his teammates, urging the North Londoners to win their remaining games in hand, to qualify for the UEFA Champions League next season. He also reiterated the fact that Spurs were more than capable of doing that.
The Italian manager brought a sense of cold realism, highlighting that the PL was a very tough league and it would be impractical to think that one could win every game. He also highlighted the need to take every game as it comes in order to build the required momentum.
Conte dished out his views in a genuine and straightforward manner, hinting that taking things one game at a time could be the best solution in the current scenario. With Leicester, Liverpool, and Arsenal next, things certainly don’t get any easier for us from now.
“I think if you win five games, probably you get a place in Champions League. But in England it’s impossible to think that in every game, you are going to win. You won’t. We have to go step by step, and game by game. On Sunday we face Leicester and you know very well they have a really good squad. For sure it will be a difficult game.
Champions League next season?
One cannot deny that the former Chelsea manager has certainly helped pivot us in the right direction. Under former boss Nuno Espirito Santo the club were languishing to play positive football and hopes of a UCL spot for next season felt like a distant dream.
Since the arrival of the 52-year-old manager, we have seen a lift in spirits. The North Londoners were on a good run of form but their last two results against Brighton & Hove Albion and Brentford were disappointing, to say the least.
Conte’s men failed to manage a single shot on target in those fixtures. Kane’s message may thus be a good boost for the team, but the former Juventus manager’s assessment seems to be more grounded in reality.
His insistence on taking things, one step at a time can also help us as we head into the latter end of the season. Our recent dip in form goes to show that there is still a lot of progress to be done at Hotspur Way.

We hope that the Lilwyhites can put their recent attacking woes behind them to secure a victory against the Foxes. It would be a much-needed boost if we are to knock fellow bitter rivals Arsenal to secure a fourth-place finish in the Prem.
Kane has an excellent record against the Leicester-based club, bagging 18 goals and four assists in 17 matches across all competitions against them to date. We hope that the English striker can add to this tally at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday.
