Tottenham Hotspur made contact with Paulo Dybala amidst Manchester United interest
According to ESPN, Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with Paulo Dybala for a potential move amidst interest from Manchester United. The former already met with his representatives quite a while back as they look to facilitate a transfer this summer.
Dybala is set to leave Juventus at the end of this season when his current contract will expire. Talks over an extension had collapsed between them, which led to this situation. Man United are interested in signing him, and they have also met with his camp and have asked them to keep informing them about the latest developments surrounding the ex-Palermo man.
Arsenal and Newcastle United are also in a similar boat to the Red Devils, adding to the obstacles that Spurs have to overcome. Several unknown clubs in Italy and Spain are in the fray as well, which paves the way for a potential transfer tussle in the coming months. Negotiations have not reached an advanced stage with any side adding to the reasons for a hefty battle.
Spurs need Dybala?
The prospect of signing a world-class player like Dybala simply cannot be passed upon without at least assessing the options. The Argentine has enjoyed a solid season so far despite being hampered by injuries once again this term. Fitness issues are one of the risks involved in this move, as he has struggled to garner minutes in recent years.
That being said, it is good to know that we have identified the opportunity and made an early approach through Fabio Paratici. Perhaps, that may lend us a hand, considering how the 28-year-old has connections with Paratici because of their time together in Turin. After all, the Managing Director did help in securing Dejan Kulusevski’s and Rodrigo Bentancur’s services very late in January.
That could play a similar role here as well, but only time will tell whether that is the case or not. Given that he is in the final few weeks of his deal, he can discuss terms with foreign clubs over a free transfer in the summer.
That means we only need to be wary of the Spanish clubs and the three other Premier League sides. One could question whether there is any space for the Serie A superstar in our current squad set-up. After all, Kulusevski’s arrival, coupled with Lucas Moura’s presence, does pose questions if Dybala can be a regular starter or not.
Hence, losing out on him may not be a damning blow as we could probably cope with the setback. That being said, the final word must always be that of Antonio Conte, as he is the one who should have control over the composition of our squad.

Dybala is undoubtedly a world-class superstar, but signing star players may not always benefit the team’s interests. This situation could be one of those cases, even if he will be available for nothing this summer.
